Peru, Ind. (Feb. 26, 2013) — Peru resident Jon Reese’s good fortune at the 2013 Fort Wayne Farm Show is benefiting local agricultural education. Reese entered a Brodbeck Seeds raffle drawing at the Fort Wayne Farm Show and was selected to direct a $250 donation supporting agricultural education and leadership. Reese selected the North Miami FFA chapter as the donation recipient.

Under the leadership of Glen Jones, chapter advisor, the North Miami FFA team has achieved an impressive performance record in various competitions. The chapter has participated in regional, national and even international FFA experiences.

Reese said that agricultural education is particularly important today. “People are less familiar with where their food comes from and farmers are a shrinking group. Organizations like FFA can help get young people interested in agriculture as a career,” he said.

Brodbeck Seeds has been a proud supporter of the North Miami FFA chapter, according to Brodbeck ProSeller Evan Hughes. In recent years the company has helped chapter teams raise money for initiatives such as its dairy team’s competition in the Royal Highland Livestock Show in Scotland. “Brodbeck’s philosophy of going the extra mile reflects a responsibility to invest in education and support the next generation of farmers,” Hughes said.
