Brodbeck Seeds Donation to Help Fund National, International FFA Trips

Goshen, IN (April 11, 2016) – Brodbeck Seeds presented Fairfield High School’s FFA chapter with a $500 donation on Friday, March 11. The chapter has two trips coming up and plans to use the donation to offset travel costs.
The chapter’s soil judging team is heading to Oklahoma this spring to compete in the national soil judging contest, and its livestock judging team is competing in the international livestock judging competition in June.
Fairfield is one of seven U.S. teams heading to the international competition. In addition to competing, the students will tour parts of Scotland, Ireland and England to gain a better understanding of the global livestock industry.
“This trip will really help open our eyes to what agriculture is like in the rest of the world,” says FFA member Ethan Bontrager. “We have to raise $25,000 for this trip alone, so this donation is a big help.”
The donation originated from a Brodbeck Seeds drawing held at the 2016 Fort Wayne Farm Show. New Paris farmer, Dave Kulp, was the drawing winner and selected Fairfield FFA to receive the donation.
Len Smith, Brodbeck Seeds district sales manager, presented the donation to the chapter.
“As a former FFA student, I understand the accomplishment is for a chapter to compete in national and international competitions. I’m thankful to work for a company and with customers that support local FFA chapters and the future of our industry.”
Brodbeck Seeds ProSeller, Kenny Shaum and District Sales Manager, Len Smith, present a $500 donation to Fairfield FFA members Nick Bowser, Ethan Bontrager and Nate Bowser.
