Donation from Brodbeck Seeds Will Benefit Wawasee High School FFA: Shawn Krull Selects Recipient

Milford, Ind. (March 26, 2012) — When Shawn Krull of Pro Seller attended the 22nd annual Fort Wayne Farm Show, he expected to learn about new innovations in farming, but he didn’t expect his attendance to benefit agricultural education. That all changed when Krull entered a raffle drawing at the Brodbeck Seeds booth and was selected to direct a $250 donation to support agricultural education and leadership.

Krull was one of six Fort Wayne Farm Show attendees to be selected to direct an agricultural education donation from Brodbeck Seeds. Krull selected the Wawasee High School FFA Chapter as the recipient of the donation. An active FFA and 4-H member throughout his high school career, Krull sits on the Wawasee High School Ag Advisory Board.

He believes that ag education plays an important role in helping farmers educate consumers about farming and issues surrounding the food supply. “As the ag community continues to shrink, we need to find new ways to reach out and educate people about where our food supply comes from—farms,” said Krull. He noted that Wawasee High School has recently hired two additional ag teachers and that FFA Advisor Mariah Roberts has worked with the faculty to create a flexible curriculum that reflects the scientific knowledge required in today’s ag environment.

Brodbeck Seeds District Sales Manager Troy Baer said that farmers play an important role in preparing the next generation of agricultural leaders. “Local farmers are incredibly generous with their expertise as well as their financial support. We’re thankful for both the hands-on leadership and financial support our customers offer students,” Baer said.
